Wellbeing for doctors

A Doctor’s Wellbeing Programme

Beyond
the Noise

Pause. Reconnect. Restore. Lead with Clarity.

Medicine asks a great deal of those who practise it. Beyond the Noise offers doctors an opportunity to step away from the constant demands of clinical life, reconnect with themselves and explore practical ways to support their wellbeing.

Bringing together restorative practices, self-awareness and leadership tools, this is a different approach to wellbeing, designed around the realities of being a doctor.

Why Beyond the Noise?

Understanding the demands of medical practice

Behind the clinical decisions, responsibilities and constant demands of patient care is a person who also needs time to pause, reflect and recharge.

The pressures of medical practice can leave little room to recognise accumulated tension, emotional demands or the need for recovery. Over time, these can affect how we feel, think, communicate and lead.

Beyond the Noise creates space to become more aware of these demands and explore practical ways to respond to them.

Because looking after others also means making space to look after yourself.

About the programme

A thoughtful integration of wellbeing and leadership

Beyond the Noise brings together complementary wellbeing practices and practical leadership development in one integrated programme.

It combines breathwork (pranayama), gentle yoga, meditation, Yoga Nidra and sound-based relaxation with practical tools for emotional self-regulation, effective time management and navigating challenging conversations.

The programme recognises that personal wellbeing and professional leadership are closely connected. It offers doctors an opportunity to explore both, in a supportive, non-clinical setting.

Our approach

An experience of awareness, discovery and practical change

Our approach goes beyond simply introducing wellbeing techniques. It creates an opportunity to pause, explore familiar patterns, gain new perspectives and develop practical ways of approaching everyday personal and professional challenges.

The five dimensions of our approach

01

Awareness

Pause and notice

Create space to recognise thoughts, emotions, habits and responses. Become more aware of what is happening within, rather than simply reacting to what is happening around you.

02

Perspective

See things differently

Step back from everyday pressures and familiar patterns. Explore different perspectives, distinguish assumptions from facts and consider new ways of approaching challenges.

03

Experience

Learn through doing

Move beyond information and theory through guided experiences, reflective activities and practical wellbeing exercises that encourage personal exploration.

04

Reflection

Connect with yourself

Take time to recognise personal insights and explore your needs, values and priorities, developing a deeper understanding of yourself.

05

Practical exploration

Take it into everyday life

Explore simple, practical approaches that can be incorporated into daily routines, relationships and professional life, supporting greater awareness, clarity and more conscious choices.

Restore & Lead: bringing it all together

Our approach brings together two complementary dimensions:

Restore

Supporting personal wellbeing

Pranayama, gentle yoga, meditation, Yoga Nidra, sound-based relaxation and Ayurveda-informed self-care practices to support relaxation, rest and self-awareness.

Lead

Strengthening professional self-leadership

Practical frameworks for emotional self-regulation, managing priorities, navigating challenging conversations, maintaining perspective and responding thoughtfully to everyday leadership demands.

Beyond the Noise is designed to be more than an opportunity to listen and learn. It is an experience that invites doctors to pause, discover, reflect and explore meaningful ways to support their wellbeing and professional lives.

The thinking behind the programme

Research-informed. Experience-led. Shaped by professional insight.

Beyond the Noise has been developed through a considered integration of relevant research, professional experience and insights into the demands of medical and organisational leadership.

Its development draws on wider knowledge relating to wellbeing, stress awareness, restorative practices, self-regulation and effective leadership. Conversations and feedback from doctors and corporate leaders also help shape the programme to reflect the realities of professional life.

The programme will continue to evolve through participant feedback, reflection and learning from its delivery, ensuring that it remains relevant, practical and responsive to the needs of those it serves.

Meet the team

Science, leadership and wellbeing.

Anupama

Holistic Wellbeing Consultant & Executive Leadership Coach

Anupama brings together science, leadership experience and holistic wellbeing to support individuals and organisations in thriving.

Anupama believes that wellbeing should empower people rather than create dependence on a practitioner.

Her approach places education at its heart, helping individuals understand their bodies, recognise their changing needs and develop the confidence to make informed choices about their wellbeing.

With a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry and previous experience in the pharmaceutical sector, Anupama brings a scientific perspective to her work. Her professional background also includes extensive experience in educational leadership, having held Headteacher and senior leadership positions across several schools in the UK.

Alongside her leadership background, Anupama is a trained Still Method Anxiety Coach and has experience in yoga, meditation, Ayurveda-informed wellbeing, complementary bodywork and sound-based relaxation practices. She regularly delivers wellbeing sessions in Birmingham, attended by healthcare professionals and other members of the community.

She has supported schools and their leadership teams in strengthening leadership practice and improving student outcomes.

As part of her professional development, Anupama participated in the Future Leaders programme, which included in-person leadership modules delivered by Jay Altman and Ben Marcovitz from New Orleans. These sessions broadened her understanding of educational leadership, school culture, organisational improvement and approaches to raising student achievement. Her leadership experience has given her first-hand insight into the demands of leading people, navigating organisational challenges and sustaining performance in positions of responsibility.

Anupama has been invited to speak on yoga and wellbeing through programmes associated with the Consulate General of India in Birmingham and Scotland. She has also been invited on several occasions as a keynote speaker by Patanjali UK, sharing her knowledge and promoting awareness of traditional yoga and complementary wellbeing practices. In recognition of her contribution to the field of holistic wellbeing, she received a special award from Siddhashram, presented at the House of Commons, Houses of Parliament, UK.

She encourages people to build authentic and sustainable practices that can support them throughout life, continually connecting, reconnecting and recalibrating as they navigate changing personal and professional demands.

Her programmes create opportunities to pause, reflect, restore and reconnect, combining evidence-informed wellbeing education with practical complementary approaches to support greater awareness, resilience and sustainable self-care.

Dr Arunesh Sil

Pharmaceutical Physician & ENT Surgeon

Dr Arunesh Sil is a Pharmaceutical Physician and ENT Surgeon whose career of over 30 years combines clinical medicine, surgery and senior pharmaceutical leadership with 15 years of yoga and meditation practice.

An experienced ENT surgeon and Specialist in Pharmaceutical Medicine, he brings frontline clinical practice and senior medical leadership experience. His surgical background grounds his approach in patient-centred care, clinical decision-making and the practical realities of healthcare delivery.

He has held senior pharmaceutical medical leadership and final signatory roles across medical affairs, medical strategy, scientific engagement, ABPI Code compliance, stakeholder and policy engagement, and development of corporate organisational compliance infrastructure.

As Director and co-founder of Bioveritas Partners, a specialist healthcare consultancy, he supports pharmaceutical and biotech organisations in compliance, the ABPI Code, product launch, medical affairs, stakeholder networking, event management and field medical support.

He also serves as Specialty Training Lead (Physician Program Director) at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine, drawing on his clinical, surgical and industry experience to develop future pharmaceutical physicians.

Through his knowledge of Sanskrit, Arunesh has studied Patanjali’s Yogasutras and led corporate and non-corporate sessions on their practical application in everyday life. Over the past 15 years, he has integrated yoga principles into creating impact across leadership environments, connecting his yoga and meditation practice with his clinical and corporate leadership experience.

Rod Grundy

GPhC-registered Pharmacist

Rod is a GPhC-registered pharmacist with over 30 years’ experience spanning frontline patient care and senior leadership in the healthcare industry.

His career has included senior roles across retail pharmacy, pharmaceutical wholesale and the pharmaceutical industry, including at Sanofi. This breadth has given him a rounded understanding of how medicines reach patients, and of the pressures faced by both clinicians and corporate leaders. Alongside this, he continues to practise as a community pharmacist, keeping him closely connected to patients and to the realities of everyday healthcare delivery.

Rod is a Founder and Director of Bioveritas Partners, a consultancy supporting pharmaceutical, biotech and life sciences organisations with regulatory, clinical, consulting and advisory services, working alongside a network of specialist partners.

For the past five years, Rod has studied and practised traditional yoga as set out in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. For him, yoga is a discipline of steadiness, self-awareness and clear thinking, not only physical practice, and he has found it deeply valuable in navigating the demands of senior roles and clinical work.

Rod’s contribution centres on bringing these two worlds together. Drawing on his understanding of healthcare and corporate environments, he helps translate classical yoga principles into practical, relevant approaches that support doctors, healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical leaders in sustaining wellbeing, focus and resilience.

Our wellbeing philosophy

Ancient wisdom. Modern science. Conscious living.

We believe wellbeing is more than the absence of stress or the pursuit of a perfect routine. It is about developing a deeper understanding of ourselves and finding greater balance in the way we think, feel, live and respond to the world around us.

Our philosophy draws inspiration from the timeless wisdom of the Yoga Sutras, bringing its principles of awareness, balance, stillness and conscious living into conversation with modern scientific understanding and the realities of contemporary life.

We also recognise the importance of our connection with Mother Nature and the natural rhythms of life. Creating space for stillness, reconnecting with ourselves and living in greater harmony with the natural world can encourage greater awareness, perspective and conscious choices.

At Beyond the Noise, we bring these perspectives together through education, reflection and practical experiences. Our intention is not to prescribe a way of living, but to empower individuals with the understanding and tools to recognise their needs and make informed choices about their wellbeing.

We believe meaningful change begins when we pause, become aware and reconnect with what truly matters.

Pause. Understand. Reconnect. Recalibrate.
